Jeren was diagnosed with a congenital airway disorder called nasal pyriform aperture stenosis, an unusual disorder that causes nasal airway obstructions in newborns. Along with the small airway in his nasal cavity, Jeren was also found to have another airway disorder, called laryngomalacia, or extra tissue around his voice-box. As a result, when Jeren was born he was placed in the Sanford NICU for abnormal and difficulty breathing for the first month of his precious life. After three surgeries and a rollercoaster of emotions, Jeren is finally home.
